FREE online courses on the Basics of a Computer - MICROCOMPUTER

Computers are variously classified as super, mainframe, mini, and microcomputers. The classification is based principally on computing power (a combination of processing capability and memory availability). There are differences in physical size and also vast differences in cost across the whole range of computers from very large systems at several million rupees each to very small microcomputers for as little as 50. The distinction between a mini and a micro is not always clear cut, as a minicomputer may contain the same miniaturized components as a microcomputer. Cost, power and the function for which the computer is used are all factors which may help to determine when a microcomputer is more appropriately termed a minicomputer.
