The members try to develop solutions to problems before clarifying and exploring. If necessary they re-define the problem. Stage 2 – Ideation A range of alternative solutions is developed for the defied problem. One idea is proposed and appropriate modifications are made to it. At this stage all ideas are welcomed and encouraged. Stage 3 – Selection This stage aims to encourage constructive controversy about appropriate solutions. Three or four promising solutions are selected and brainstorming session is conducted to analyze the proposed solution. Any possible defects in the solution are suggested and a remedy is built on new ideas. Stage 4 – Implementation This is the least difficult and most rewarding of the problem – solving process. At the implementation stage, the innovator should gain support in the form of resources, time and co-operation, from others outside the team who may have influence on the effectiveness of the implementation process.
