Raghav
is a clothing manufacturer. One of his best customers had placed a large order
that seemed to be impossible to meet without diverting workers from jobs to
other clients.
He
called together the whole executive team to look for a solution to the
problem. Megha, the head of manufacturing, wanted to hire tailors on a
temporary basis to fill the order. The finance director, Akhil, regarded this
as costly and uncertain, and suggested sub-contracting the work to another
supplier.
Gaurav,
from marketing, asked if any body had contacted the customers to see if
deliveries could be re-scheduled. Meghna immediately saw that, given this
leeway, he could organize production, and meet all the demands with little
delay. All the customers agreed to the new schedules, the improved workflow
actually cut cost, and everybody was satisfied.
