People do what they like the most and not what they are supposed to do, so why not find out how to make ‘what they like to do' their work itself. The first step towards this should be to recruit only those whose ‘what they like to do' can be dovetailed with organizational goals.

When a person gets the work he finds joy in, he needs little or no external motivation.

Perfect work

Find out the perfect work for each employee through questionnaires, discussions or other suitable ways.

Get to know what:

  • Is it that the employee feels he is good at?

  • Is the one thing that he can do better than others?

  • Work will make him feel that he is making the best use of life?

  • Is it that he would like to accomplish if left with only a year in his life?

  • Work will he do to pass his time, if the compulsion to earn a living is not there?

  • Is the one thing that he enjoys doing the most?

Allow him to jot down the answers to these questions with the hand he does not use for writing. This will make deep inner feelings, intentions and desires come out too, which the logical conscious mind may often not be aware of.
