You cannot expect to see a sense of belonging in your people unless you show the same for them. See how can you reduce stress and distractions from your people's lives by reducing their personal work. Organize centrally the payment of employees' phone, electricity and other personal bills and other such issues.

Show your appreciation

Small doses of appreciation at regular short intervals are more effective than waiting for a real great occasion or for the farewell day to arrive.

Employees should work in an environment where they can enjoy their contribution more than their position in the hierarchy. One common factor in all successful companies is the respect, dignity and love with which they treat their people.

Implement suggestions

  • Let people find contradictions between the vision, goals, guidelines and values and the actual scenario and suggest how to plug the gaps between the two and be rewarded.

  • Give immediate recognition and rewards to people who suggest something that improves the functioning of the organization in any way. The greatest recognition for a suggestion is not merely a monetary reward but its implementation.

Foster transparency

The fastest and the surest way of killing motivation in people is by showing them that in the eyes of the management, some are more equal than them.

Foster transparency in official dealings. An employee should be given a feeling that even if there is an inequality somewhere, he can discuss it very freely with an open mind.
