The
relationship of employees gets stronger with the organization if it constantly
keeps sharing with them its aspirations, hopes, vision, goals, problems,
stakes involved, responsibilities, happenings, achievements and shortcomings
in relation to their roles.
Top
executives are usually highly motivated because they have more information
and are well aware of the stakes involved.
Employees
should know how to read balance sheets, income statements, cash flow, after
tax profits, equity etc to understand how the company is doing.
Weekly/monthly
updated income statements should be distributed and discussed by
the team leader, making the team members aware of the performance of the
company vis-a-vis targets.
The salary slips can come with short notes (of not more than
two lines) on company's goals vs. achievements, thrust areas, values the organization
stands for and some relevant positive affirmations. These can be kept on the
computer server or the home page on the Internet.
Let
there be quiz competitions that challenge people to put together the flow
chart jigsaw puzzle pieces of the manufacturing process of the product the
company is involved with or correctly assemble the product parts together.
These
flow chart pieces should be available like library books for any employee
to try at home. Any one who can put these together in weekly/monthly contests
should be given a small token prize like a tie or a T-shirt.
