Show video clippings of customers complaining to your employees over a cup of tea.

  • Ask people to list their bad experiences as a customer. On the basis of this feedback introspect and ensure that they do not make their customers go through the same ordeal again.

  • Make the production people attend trade shows or spend a week in the marketing office and be given a marketing assignment -- first two days can be spent understanding the job and the problems involved and the remaining three or four days in carrying out the marketing assignment.
  • Let the participants identify the areas in their work where whatever has been learnt in training programs can be applied.

  • They must give feedback to the core group about the status of implementation, the improvement attained or the constraints being faced.

  • The feedback should continue till the implementation gets established.
  • Let the top executives learn and show by example what you want your employees to learn through training programs.

  • Employees should never get a feeling that the management does not mean what it is preaching to them through these training programs.

  • It is a good strategy to spare the top executives for attending all the important training programs so that they know what the juniors would be expecting from them.
