6. Decide to Protect Yourself
Realize that you are not indestructible. Get insurance for those you love. What types of insurance do you need? Life insurance? Sometimes. Health insurance? Yes! Disability insurance? Perhaps. Your best and most important form of insurance is obeying the commandments and living the gospel, including the Word of Wisdom. Remember the counsel of the Lord to the prophet Brigham Young at Winter Quarters:
Thou shalt be diligent in preserving what thou hast, that thou mayest be a wise steward; for it is the free gift of the Lord thy God, and thou art his steward. (D&C 136:27)
Decide now to protect yourself, your loved ones, and your belongings. Be sure you have sufficient insurance. Life insurance is a necessity if you are married. Home and auto insurance are likewise necessary when you purchase a home and a car. Having too little liability coverage can ruin your financial future. Protect yourself.
